Xpeng AeroHT's flying car factory commenced trial operations on Monday in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, with its Land Aircraft Carrier being the first to roll off the production line.

The facility was constructed in the city's Huangpu district, which has evolved into a science and technology hub. It will primarily be used to produce the Land Aircraft carrier with an initial annual production capacity of 5,000 units. That number is planned to double eventually. At full capacity, one aircraft will be constructed every 30 minutes.

Huangpu's district government recently released a statement hailing the factory as the world's first mass production line for flying cars. "The aircraft produced in this round of pilot production will be used for test flights to verify product performance and craftsmanship further, laying a solid foundation for the delivery of Land Aircraft Carriers next year," said the statement.

The facility represents a leap in the development of China's low-altitude economy into large-scale production. Its assembly line model, including composite materials, power, connection, painting, and final assembly, will be seen as a model for future factories in the industry.

As for the vehicle model, it adopts a three-axle and six-wheel design, enabling 6×6 all-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering for off-road performance. It also has a relatively compact design that guarantees it will fit existing underground garages and easily park in standard parking spaces.

According to the statement, the factory is expected to inject new momentum into the construction of a world-class industrial cluster in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and provide solid support for the country to seize the commanding heights in the global low-altitude competition.
