Picking, eating and cooking: French lady experiences wild mushrooms in Yunnan

French food blogger Mylene Mathieu ventured into Nanhua county, Chuxiong Yi autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province, on a quest for wild mushrooms, together with German culture blogger Melina Weber. They rose early to forage, even singing the classic Chinese song The Mushroom Girl in fluent Mandarin.
While exploring mushroom markets, Mylene picked up local dialects, fully immersing herself in the locals' close-to-nature lifestyle, and marveling how cheap the mushrooms were compared to France. She even competed with a local chef to cook mushroom dishes, tasted every possible preparation, and declared Nanhua a true culinary treasure.
Beyond the food, she experienced Yi embroidery and the crafting of hemp fabric, soaking in Yunnan's rich ethnic culture and distinctive intangible cultural heritage.
