The Pingtan administrative committee said that 409 contestants from 26 teams from the Chinese mainland – and 57 contestants from eight Taiwan teams - will compete in the second Cross-Straits Taekwondo Communication Contest that will kick off in Pingtan county on August 21.

The committee also said on August 19 that a total of 35 referees will preside over a variety of programs during the three-day event, involving poomsae, nunchucks, taekwondo dance and power breaking.

The competition is expected to boost cross-Straits communication and make Pingtan an important city for Taekwondo events.
