Spurs Beat Nets in finals rematch ( 2003-11-13 14:55) (Agencies)
Tim Duncan scored 31 points and added 12 assists as the defending champion
San Antonio Spurs easily defeated the New Jersey Nets 85-71 in the NBA Wednesday
night.
Duncan's big night over-shadowed a triple-double by New Jersey's Jason Kidd
as the Spurs easily won the first meeting of the season between last year's NBA
finalists.
Duncan shot 12-of-19 from the field as the Spurs look to be finding the form
that made them NBA champions last season as their injured players work their way
back into the line-up.
Tony Parker, playing just his second game of the season, added 17 points for
San Antonio.
Manu Ginobili chipped in with 12 points and eight rebounds for the Spurs, who
had Duncan and Parker in the line-up for just the second time this season.
Kidd had 14 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists for the Nets, who trailed by
16 points at the half.
Kenyon Martin returned to the New Jersey lineup for the first time since
October 31 and added 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Just 13,286 fans took in the game at the Meadowlands.
