Charter of Boao Forum for Asia approved ( 2003-11-02 10:38) (Xinhua)
The Charter of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) was approved Saturday at its
General Meeting of Members.
The charter has eight chapters and 39 articles. It defines the forum's nature
and objectives, rights and obligations of members, and the management of the
forum's assets.
According to the charter, the forum is a non-governmental, non-profit
international organization that holds meetings on regular basis.
The forum is to promote and strengthen economic exchanges, interaction and
cooperation within the region as well as between the region and other parts of
the world, and to provide a high- level venue of dialogue for governments,
enterprises and academe to discuss economic, social, environment and other
related issues.
The forum will facilitate ever-growing economic cooperation among its members
and between members and mon-members through its established networks with the
governments, business community and academe.
The charter approved Saturday was based on a revision approved unanimously at
the forum's board meeting on Oct. 25, 2002 in Beijing.
The Boao Forum for Asia was sponsored by representatives from 26 countries in
2001, and now it has 117 members of various kinds of membership.
