Giant snake causes traffic jam ( 2003-08-06 10:30) (China Daily)
A snake brought traffic to a crawl along a street east of Andingmen for 20 minutes on Tuesday, reports Beijing Morning News. Urban inspectors found the snake, which was more than two metres long, slithering through the branches of a Chinese scholar tree at 9:10 am. But it suddenly bolted for the ground and moved quickly along the pavement, stopping more and more onlookers in their tracks. After the inspectors failed to subdue the snake, a young man claiming to be a cook finally stepped forward and caught it. The non-poisonous snake was later set free in the woods of Changping. |
