Thailand's Loy Krathong festival lights up Beijing
The Tourism Authority of Thailand Beijing Office joined hands with Patana Thai Restaurant to bring the spirit of Thailand's romantic festival Loy Krathong to the heart of Beijing, inviting guests to an evening of lights, culture and authentic Thai flavors on Wednesday.
Known as the Festival of Lights, Loy Krathong is one of Thailand's most beloved traditions, symbolizing gratitude, renewal and the release of worries. To help Beijing residents experience its unique charm up close, the event re-created an authentic Thai celebration through food, art and ritual.
The evening featured three immersive highlights, including a curated menu of classic Thai dishes, from hand-pounded curry pastes to the rich aroma of Tom Yum Goong. Professional Thai performers presented graceful classical dances and folk songs, offering a glimpse into the elegance and vitality of Thai culture. Participants also handcrafted their own krathong — intricately decorated floating lanterns — embracing the spiritual and romantic essence of the festival.
The Loy Krathong celebration is part of the TAT Beijing Office's ongoing efforts to promote Thai culture and tourism to Chinese audiences.
