Rail safety ensured amid bad weather
Chinese railway operators are bolstering efforts to provide unimpeded rail transport amid frosty and rainy conditions. As Shanxi province has been hit by inclement weather since autumn, with increased temperature fluctuations between day and night time posing greater safety hazards, staff members of Taiyuan High-Speed Railway Engineering Section of China Railway Taiyuan Bureau Group have enhanced rail break prevention. Based on inspection data, they have identified critical sections and formulated flaw-detection plans for a "safety net," improving geometric state control of railway tracks. They have also organized emergency response drills, and ensured sufficient track materials and supplies to guarantee comprehensive preparedness for emergencies.
Express delivery sector reports growth
China's express delivery sector handled 145.08 billion parcels in the first nine months of 2025, up 17.2 percent year-on-year, official data showed. China's broader postal industry, which includes express delivery services, handled a total of 158.26 billion parcels during this period, representing a 15 percent increase from a year earlier, according to the State Post Bureau. From January to September, the postal industry's business revenue totaled over 1.31 trillion yuan ($184.72 billion), an increase of 7.7 percent year-on-year.
