AI industry thrives with over 5,300 firms
China's artificial intelligence sector has seen robust growth, with the number of enterprises exceeding 5,300 as of September, accounting for 15 percent of the global total, according to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. The industry's scale exceeded 900 billion yuan ($126.7 billion) in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 24 percent, the data showed. The country's AI sector has established a complete industrial chain spanning the foundational infrastructure, model architecture and industry applications.
Internet sector logs steady revenue growth
China's internet sector saw solid growth in business revenue in the first eight months of 2025, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed. From January to August, China's major internet companies and related services companies generated about 1.29 trillion yuan ($181.46 billion) in business revenue, up 2.2 percent year-on-year and featuring a growth rate 0.8 percentage points faster than in the first quarter of 2025.
