Forty poets from 15 different Latin American countries joined 37 Chinese counterparts for a cultural gathering at Beijing’s Beihai Park on Sept 20.
The poets, who were in Beijing for the 2025 International Youth Poetry Festival, climbed the White Pagoda, sailed upon the clear waters and held a recital at Yilan Hall to the backing melody of Zai Shui Yi Fang (By The Waterside), a song adopted from Jian Jia (The Reed) in the Confucian classic The Book of Songs.
The poets left behind them verses celebrating transnational exchanges and cultural resonance, which echoed across continents as a lasting bridge for China-Latin America friendship.
