China's foreign trade grows 3.5% in first eight months of 2025

China's foreign trade grew 3.5 percent year-on-year to 29.57 trillion yuan ($4.14 trillion) in the first eight months of 2025, according to data from the General Administration of Customs released on Monday.
Exports rose 6.9 percent year-on-year to 17.61 trillion yuan between January and August, while imports dipped 1.2 percent to 11.96 trillion yuan during the same period.
During the period, China's exports of mechanical and electrical products reached 10.6 trillion yuan, up 9.2 percent year-on-year and accounting for 60.2 percent of the nation's total exports.
China's trade with economies participating in the Belt and Road Initiative increased 5.4 percent year-on-year to 15.3 trillion yuan in the first eight months, customs data showed.
