China announces anti-circumvention measures on certain US optical fiber imports

China's Ministry of Commerce announced on Thursday that it has imposed anti-circumvention measures on imports of certain cut-off shifted single-mode optical fiber products originating from the United States, effective immediately.
The measures are the result of an investigation initiated on March 4 this year at the request of domestic companies, according to a ministry statement released online. It was China's first-ever anti-circumvention investigation.
The statement said the ministry conducted the probe in accordance with the law, with open and transparent procedures that fully ensured the rights of all interested parties.
Evidence showed that US exporters sought to bypass China's existing anti-dumping measures on US dispersion of unshifted single-mode optical fiber products by shipping them to China, the statement added.
