State Grid Zhenjiang promotes load shifting to cut costs and ensure stable supply

The State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company is helping local enterprises reduce electricity costs and secure reliable power by encouraging load shifting under Jiangsu province's new time-of-use pricing policy.
On Aug 25, Yangzhong Ruitong Chemical Co Ltd in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province, reviewed its latest electricity bill. Since the province introduced the new pricing policy in June, the company has adjusted its production schedule based on guidance from the local power supplier. With electricity consumption largely unchanged, its monthly bill fell by more than 3,000 yuan ($420).
These savings stemmed from an energy analysis and cost-reduction report that the Zhenjiang power company provided in June. By promoting load shifting, the company helps enterprises save energy while maintaining a steady supply.
Load shifting refers to moving electricity use from peak hours — when prices are higher — to off-peak periods, without affecting production capacity. It also enables better use of renewable energy through new storage technologies, lowering costs for enterprises while easing grid pressure.
Since the start of the second half of 2024, the State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company has surveyed more than 20 key enterprises in the city and issued tailored electricity cost and load analysis plans. Many companies have already adopted its recommendations, cutting expenses while helping relieve peak-hour power strain.
