Liang Xiaofei, a former businesswoman suspected of major duty-related crimes, has been captured abroad and extradited back to China, the country's top anti-corruption body announced on Thursday.

Liang, 48, controlled an investment company in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and is suspected of involvement in duty-related offenses and money laundering involving significant amounts, according to the National Commission of Supervision.

In 2023, Liang fled China, although the commission did not disclose the specific country or region to which she escaped.

The commission said that Liang's return is a significant achievement of China's "Sky Net" campaign, and highlights the nation's determination to fight bribe givers while cracking down on bribe receivers.

It added that China is committed to strengthening international cooperation in anti-corruption efforts, ensuring that no corrupt individuals evade justice.

Launched in 2015, the ongoing "Sky Net" operation has played a significant role in tracking down fugitives, recovering illicit assets and combating cross-border corruption.
