China launched the seventh batch of low-orbit satellites for its state-backed internet network on Aug 4, deploying them via a Long March 12 rocket from the Hainan International Commercial Aerospace Launch Center. The satellites entered their planned orbits, marking a full mission success.
The batch was developed by GalaxySpace, a Beijing-based private satellite company, and manufactured at its Nantong Smart Factory located in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA). This launch represents a milestone as the first privately developed satellite cluster by a Chinese commercial aerospace company.
According to Hu Zhao, chief designer of the satellite models at GalaxySpace, the satellites feature ?fully self-developed core components?. Through innovative designs and vertical integration, their modular architecture enables parallel assembly, integration, and testing. When? combined with robotic cabin assembly, ?this approach? ensures efficient mass production.
GalaxySpace's Nantong facility leverages intelligent robotic assembly, digital manufacturing systems, and automated testing platforms, allowing satellite production to operate like an automotive assembly line. The factory boasts an annual capacity of ?over 100 satellites, each weighing up to 1,000 kg.
