A Yemeni photographer's journey to Mount Huangshan

Updated: August 13, 2025

Editor's note: We have invited foreigners living in China to share their stories about the cities where they live, work or visit. Mohammed Al-Zouba, a Yemeni student and photographer in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, recently paid a visit to Mount Huangshan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the city of Huangshan, East China's Anhui province. He found magic in the misty peaks and stone stairways.

Photography has been my passion for more than half a decade, leading me to explore countless Chinese cities. But among all the places I've been, one stood out above the rest — the mist-wrapped Mount Huangshan.

For as long as I can remember, Mount Huangshan has been high on my travel bucket list. When one of my best friends proposed visiting it in late June, I knew I had to seize the opportunity. We packed up everything soon and embarked on this thrilling trip.

Mount Huangshan is truly one of a kind — its breathtaking landscapes, the feeling of touching the clouds, and the fulfillment of exploring the mountain all make it unforgettable.
