China, US keen to develop closer business ties

China hopes to strengthen contacts with the United States to avoid misjudgment and manage the two countries' differences, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday.
During his meeting with a delegation of the board of directors of the US-China Business Council in Beijing, Wang said China will handle and develop its ties with the US following the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation.
China's policy toward the US has been continuous and stable, Wang noted, and China stands ready to implement the common understandings reached by the two countries' heads of state to promote steady, sound and sustainable development of bilateral relations.
More channels for communication and consultation should be set up between the two countries, the foreign minister added.
Wang called on both sides to view each other in an objective, reasonable and pragmatic manner, to respect each other's core and major interests, and follow the principles of respect, equality and mutual benefit.
China will expand its high-standard opening up and foster a market-oriented, law-based and world-class business environment, Wang said, adding that he hopes US companies will remain optimistic about China's market and continue to invest in China.
Members of the US business delegation said US-China ties are the most important bilateral relations in the world at the moment.
They said the US business community will continue to explore China's market, and expand trade and investment cooperation, as well as cooperating with the Chinese side in technological innovation, green development and health matters.
The US-China Business Council stands ready to play its role actively and to work for US-China ties that are more robust, balanced and mutually beneficial, they added.
