London event puts Lin-gang on global business map

The Lin-gang Special Area in Shanghai is set to become another magnet for global businesses and investors, said long-time China observers and industry insiders at a promotional conference in London on Friday.
Located at the southeast of Shanghai, the Lin-gang area has a total plan of 873 square kilometers and is adjacent to the city's busiest Pudong International Airport and the world's largest container port, Yangshan Deep Water Port.

Yang Zhengwei, executive deputy director of the Lin-gang Special Area Administration, said that although it was only established six years ago, the area has become a national pilot zone of opening up, aligning with global trade and business standards.
The area is now accelerating the development of global clusters in semiconductors, intelligent vehicles, and biotech, and currently hosts more than 70 companies from the United Kingdom. "We welcome more British enterprises to invest in Lin-gang and share in the opportunities of high-quality development," he said at the event.

Fang Wenjian, chairman of the China Chamber of Commerce in the UK and general manager of Bank of China London Branch, commented on the alignment between the UK's financial and technological strengths and Lin-gang's focus of development.
"We will continue to support deeper policy alignment between Lin-gang and relevant UK stakeholders… (to) promote mutual trust, mitigate political uncertainties and strengthen the confidence of British investors in engaging with Lin-gang," he said.
