Extreme rain floods towns in Henan; two rescued, eight missing

Eight people are missing after a short-lived extreme downpour hit Xixia county in Nanyang, Henan province, from 9 pm to midnight on Monday, according to the county's emergency command headquarters.
Following the incident, the county immediately mobilized rescue efforts. Two residents were rescued and remain in stable condition.
The rain reached 208.3 millimeters and mainly affected Taiping town and Erlangping town in Xixia county.
The total precipitation during this period amounted to 225.3 mm, causing the downstream Shenwei River to surge. This resulted in damage to some facilities and left locals trapped.
Emergency response teams have been deployed for an all-out search and rescue operation.
