The Persian and Thai editions of Stories of Xi Jinping and Poverty Alleviation in China were released on Wednesday, the opening day of the 31st Beijing International Book Fair.

First published in Chinese in 2020 by the Commercial Press, the book shares heartwarming narratives illustrating Chinese President Xi Jinping's deep concern for the livelihoods of individuals in poverty. It vividly captures his strong commitment to alleviating poverty and his relentless drive to advance this crucial cause.

The book has now been translated into 13 foreign languages, including English, French, Russian and Spanish.

The Persian and Thai editions will allow more readers to gain a deeper understanding of China, said Chang Bo, general manager of China Publishing Group, in his speech.

Li Hongwen, executive director of China National Publications Import & Export (Group) Corporation, said in her speech that the book showcases China's determination and efforts in poverty alleviation and creates more opportunities for exchange and cooperation between China and other countries worldwide in the fight against poverty.

Gu Qing, executive director of Commercial Press, said the Chinese publishing house has long been committed to building a bridge for communication between Chinese and foreign civilizations through translations and publishing.

The book's "global footprint" is far from ending. Commercial Press will continue to strive for the early release of more foreign language editions, which are currently being prepared, he said.
