In the Yuhang district of Hangzhou – capital of East China's Zhejiang province – electric vehicle owners no longer need to search for charging stations, because charging stations can now come to them.

A newly deployed autonomous charging vehicle is bringing on-demand power to rural areas like Gangnan village in Liangzhu subdistrict.

Developed by the State Grid Yuhang Power Supply Company, the mobile charging unit is an L4-level self-driving vehicle equipped with a 104-kilowatt-hour battery, compatible with all mainstream electric vehicle models.

Users just simply place an order via the "Shandianbao Go" app, enter their license plate and parking details and the vehicle autonomously navigates to the location.

With a fast-charging gun, the unit can deliver 30 kWh of power in just 30 minutes, significantly reducing waiting times. Since its trial launch in January, it's served hundreds of EV owners.

Moving forwards, Yuhang plans to expand the charging fleet – enhancing accessibility and coverage for more drivers.
