Hangzhou Museum – located in Shangcheng district of Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province – launched a new hanfu collection on Feb 12 inspired by its ongoing exhibition, Feminine Grace in Ink: The Ingenuity and Artistic Visions of Ming-Qing Ladies.

Collaborating with Double Seventh, a renowned brand of the traditional Chinese gowns and attire, the museum introduced eight designs that blend aesthetics unique to Jiangnan – the region south of the Yangtze River – with modern sensibilities.

The fashion show launch event regaled the audience with a journey through time. Models gracefully showcased the intricate details of each outfit, which boasted delicate embroidery, flowing silhouettes and timeless elegance.

Online reactions were overwhelmingly positive, with many struggling to pick a favorite; "They're all so beautiful!" being a common refrain.

In addition to the collection, the museum also unveiled new hanfu-inspired attire for its docents and volunteers, further integrating cultural heritage into everyday experiences.

As a city museum, Hangzhou Museum continues to explore innovative ways to bring tradition into modern life – ensuring that the elegance of Jiangnan's past remains vibrant in the present.
