Hangzhou recently unveiled a new pedestrian bridge over the Grand Canal in Gongshu district, crossing between the east and west banks of the river.

The bridge was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the world's longest-span inverted fink truss bridge. It features a reverse fink truss structure, measuring 181.8 meters in length, with a main span of 150 m and a width of 8 m.

Inspired by the contours of cargo ships navigating the Grand Canal, the design of the bridge incorporates elements reminiscent of the ship's mast into the cable-stayed columns. The crisscrossed cables form triangular sails, giving the bridge an elegant and graceful appearance. The streamlined design mimics the shape of a boat's hull, creating the illusion of a cargo ship moored on the canal.

The bridge is expected to offer enhanced convenience to local residents and further connect the two sides of the canal.

The bridge also helps create a comfortable public waterfront space, offering people an array of cultural activities. This will elevate the overall quality of life, improving the community's well-being.
