Xinjiang adviser wishes youth to take advantage of new media

Hanzat Tohti, a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said that new media gives young people more opportunities for their development and wishes more youth would join the sector to promote the good spirit of the Chinese people through short-videos.
Serving as the vice-chairman of New Social Stratum Association in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, he said on the sidelines of the on going first session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee on Tuesday that he was fond of recording interesting stories about his friends when he was around 12 years old.
"I think it was from that moment, I had the idea of making videos about aspects of life in Xinjiang, such as the delicious food and the breathtaking views. I also love to record stories about communications among different ethnic groups," he said.
He said that his videos have amused people in Xinjiang, as well as his followers across the nation and around the world.
"Many of my followers comment on my videos that they love the region so much and wish to travel to the place. I welcome all of you to Xinjiang to make friends here," he said.
As new media development offers more opportunities to young people, he said he hopes more of them take advantage of it and create positive content.
"As the spring comes, I invite you to come to Xinjiang. You can make friends here and record your experiences in Xinjiang," he said.
