Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press releases new book on AI

Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press on Tuesday published Artificial Intelligence Values, a book which explores the influence of artificial intelligence on values in the world.
The book proposes that global cooperation is vital to facilitating the development of artificial intelligence and seeking common ground while reserving differences.
It also argues that the development of artificial intelligence should be in line with human values and include elements such as people-oriented issues and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
"AI has been part of industry and society, depicting a smart life in the future influenced by technology. In-depth understanding of the application of AI and accurate assessment of its impact on the social moral value system will be an important means to the technology’s rapid development," said Li Renhan, one of the editors of the book and the chief advisor of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Data opening has also been pivotal in AI innovation, according to Jin Yaohui, chief engineer of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence.
"For the sustainable development and use of AI and related data resources, open data license agreement has played a critical role. It standardizes the identities of data stakeholders and clarifies the rights and responsibilities of data stakeholders regarding data circulation. It also guides data circulation in a completely open mode to promote the sharing, development and use of dataset," said Jin.
