Chinese shares close higher Wednesday

BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.17 percent, at 3,377.56 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.72 percent higher at 13,960.93 points.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.97 percent to close at 2,860.24 points Wednesday.
