The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council issue guidance detailing further implementation of the Western Development Strategy.

February 2012

The State Council approves the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15) for western region development.

January 2017

The State Council approves the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) for western region development.

October 2017

The 19th CPC National Congress emphasizes the need to promote development of the western region.

March 19, 2019

A guidance on the development of western region to form a new pattern in the new era is approved at the seventh meeting of the CPC Central Comprehensive Deepening Reform Committee.

May 17, 2020

The CPC Central Committee and the State Council issue a guidance promoting development of the western region to form a new pattern in the new era.
