MSC Gulsun helps Qingdao Port set new record

MSC Gulsun, the world's largest container ship by carrying capacity, arrived at Qingdao Port, Shandong province on Thursday, setting a new record for the ships berthed at the port.
At 399.9 meters long and 61.5 meters wide, the ship is capable of carrying up to 23,756 20-foot equivalent units or a maximum of load of 224,986.4 tons.
A total of 4,234 TEU is expected to be loaded and unloaded during its berth at Qingdao Port.
With trade links with more than 700 ports in over 180 countries and regions, Qingdao Port is the largest port for foreign trade in North China.
It currently has 165 container shipment routes, of which 136 are overseas, ranking first in North China.
The port keeps continues to set world records for loading and unloading efficiency, with its most recent record performance loading and unloading 22,222 TEU on June 27.
According to a previous report from Xinhua News Agency, the MSC Gulsun made its maiden voyage from North China's port city of Tianjin on Monday, heading for northwestern Europe.
The ship was built by Samsung Heavy Industries, the shipbuilding affiliate of Samsung Group from the Republic of Korea.
