Taiwan firm chooses Optics Valley for HQ
Wistron Information Technology & Services Corporation (Wistron ITS), a Taiwan-based tech firm, has chosen to set up its headquarters for the Chinese mainland in East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province.
The firm previously maintained its headquarters for the mainland in Beijing, but with the move to Optics Valley, it becomes the first company from Taiwan to have its headquarters in the zone.
The agreement was signed at the China Development Forum Wuhan session, which was held in Beijing on March 23.
Wistron ITS is a multifaceted and professional IT services company that is part of Wistron Group, a Fortune 500 company.
With investment of $100 million, the headquarters will mainly provide IT services for customers around the world, including software research and development, innovative designs, big data and AI solutions.
The firm established a subsidiary in Wuhan in 2003, and it currently has more than 2,000 staff members.
Following completion, the company is expected to employ more than 10,000 people within five years, and plans to establish an innovation center, and global R&D center.
At present, more than 100 large companies from Taiwan have invested in Wuhan.
Optics Valley is a hub for the IT services industry, and the zone has thousands of highly-skilled professionals, making it a natural choice for us, said a company representative.
