A foreign coach demonstrated how to position oneself and turn around, also known as the triple threat position, to his Chinese students at Dacheng Primary School in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province.
The foreign coach Chris Bickel comes from the United States and is the chief executive officer of a multinational capital management company.
Since he is a basketball fanatic, even while working in Quzhou, Bickel finds time to play his favorite sport with the local basketball players.
On hearing from his basketball friends that the local Dacheng Primary School team is pretty good, he volunteered to coach the young basketball fans.
Starting from last year, whenever Bickel finds spare time, he takes a translator with him to teach Dacheng students the ins and outs of basketball.
"Basketball court is just like life and one should create opportunities for themselves," said Bickel, noting that he wants to teach them more than just basketball skills.
He wants to teach them the importance of responsibility, honor and team awareness via the sport so that they can prosper in their study and life in the future.
Over the past years, basketball has become increasingly more popular among Chinese people, according to Bickel. Take the National Basketball Association (NBA) for example, the league is even more popular in China than in the US.
