Chinese couple celebrate their wedding on 'the roof of the world'

A young Chinese couple has tied the knot at a ceremony high on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, known as 'the roof of the world' in the Garze Tibetan autonomous prefecture in southwest China's Sichuan Province.
Liu Ting and her soldier boyfriend Guo Jiawei started dating in 2015 and decided to marry in August last year. They had planned to hold a wedding ceremony in January this year, but Guo Jiawei's unit was shifted to the Khampa Plateau, which is 4,000 meters above sea level.

Knowing that the couple had been trying to plan a wedding, the soldier's comrades in arms decided to hold a military-style ceremony for the couple in the high altitude base camp. The couple has planted a tree in the camp to show that their love will remain deeply rooted in the plateau.
