Hunan company sets global milestone in battery technology

The world's first production line of aluminum rich lithium-ion batteries was put into operation in Loudi, Central China's Hunan province, on Wednesday.
A ceremony was held at the Loudi National Economic and Technical Development Zone to celebrate the start of the first phase of the factory of Hunan Botlpower Co.
Professor Chen Libao from the Central South University lead a research team in cooperation with Hunan Boltpower in developing the cutting-edge applied technology of aluminum rich lithium ion batteries.
The new technology will allow the batteries to work perfectly below -50 C temperature, will have improved power density, higher safety and cost-effective performance.
Hunan Boltpower is backed by Dongguan-based Juxing Power's 2.78 billion yuan ($419.2 million) investment. And Boltpower, a brand of the company, is the creator of the portable lithium jump starter.
