Xi sends congratulatory letter to SCO media summit

President Xi Jinping has called for media outlets to promote the Shanghai spirit and serve as the pioneer for practical cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, in a congratulatory letter on Friday.
In the letter to the first SCO media summit, Xi said media outlets should also serve as the communicator for people's friendship.
He said he believes that the media summit will play a positive role in promoting the collective strength of the organization.
China stands firm in supporting the development of the SCO, and is willing to make steps forward hand-in-hand with all parties to develop a more closely related regional community with a shared future, and to push forward the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, he said.
The first media summit of the SCO, proposed by Xi a year ago, was held in Beijing on Friday.
The summit was aimed to promote cooperation and exchanges in the area of humanity.
