Recently, a new variety of soybean named Dongsheng 79 has received the approval of the Heilongjiang Crops Variety Examination.
The new variety has been developed by Heilongjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Its average fat content can reach up to 24.16 percent, 3 to 4 percent higher than genetically modified soybeans, which will help reduce domestic oil companies' dependence on the import of GM soybeans.
It has been planted and popularized in Jiamusi, Qiqihar and Mudanjiang, and it is expected to accelerate the adjustment of soybean varieties, increase incomes for farmers and improve economic benefits for oil companies.
